Ares Games launches a new project on Kickstarter. Following the huge success of the Sails of Glory campaign, ending today with more than $ 250,000 pledged and over 1,100 backers, we launched today the crowdfunding campaign for Galaxy Defenders. Designed by Gremlin Project and published by Ares Games, Galaxy Defenders is a cooperative sci-fi miniature board game in which up to 5 players fight together against an incoming alien menace.

Created by Nunzio Surace and Simone Romano, Galaxy Defenders is inspired by the classical Sci-Fi movies and video games of the '80s and '90s. Up to five players fight together (each taking control of one or more agents with unique power) - to defend the planet from an alien invasion. The Aliens are controlled by a sophisticated, card-driven artificial intelligence system. The battle for Earth against the aliens develops in a series of scenarios organized in a story-driven campaign, which remain balanced independently of the number of players.

The development and pre-production of Galaxy Defenders are now almost complete. The main sculpting and art has been commissioned and funded directly by Ares Games and Gremlin Project, and the production will be started just after the Kickstarter ends.

The initial funding goal is US$ 40,000, and backers can choose to support the game at 12 different pledge levels. The Kickstarter offers a copy of the game, with everything needed for playing - 23 high-detailed miniatures, modular maps, custom dices, agent profile sheets, event, alien and closed-encounter cards and more - and access to four different exclusive miniatures, available only to the backers of the project.

The project starts with six stretch goals already set, including new map tiles and new Alien figures. Further stretch goals will be revealed as the project goes on.
