The 8th edition of Play Festival del Gioco, one of the main gaming conventions in Italy, will be held at Modena, on April 2nd-3rd. Several games from Ares will be present at the show. At the Devir Italia booth, visitors will have the chance to try Odyssey - Wrath of Poseidon, Jolly Roger, War of the Ring, Dino Race, and preview Sword & Sorcery. Wings of Glory and Sails of Glory will be at the Historical Board Game area. The event will also host the first Italian gathering of Wings of Glory fans, as well as a presentation of the original prototype of the game, created in 2002.
Sword & Sorcery: a cooperative fantasy board game.
The upcoming epic-fantasy cooperative board game Sword & Sorcery will be presented in two sessions by one of the authors, Nunzio Surace, at Devir Italia's booth. On Saturday (April 2nd), at 2pm, and on Sunday (April 3rd), at 10am, he will demo a prototype version of the game, with some of the miniatures from final production. At Devir's booth, some of the more beautiful sculptures for the game will be showcased, including mighty Vastaryous, the five-head dragon. Expected to release in late 2016, Sword & Sorcery is developed by Gremlin Project and will be published by Ares. It was funded last year with a Kickstarter campaign - the most successful Ares Games project on the crowdfunding platform, and, at that date, also the most successfully funded Kickstarter ever created by an Italian company, with over $500,000 pledged.
Andrea Angiolino, one of the authors of Wings of Glory and Sails of Glory will be one of the guests of honor at Play 2016. On Saturday afternoon, from 3pm to 6pm, he will present the early prototypes of two of his games, Wings of Glory and Ulisses, and will play with visitors. Angiolino will also attend the first Italian gathering of Wings of Glory fans, organized by the game clubs "Quelli di Aerodrome," Associazione Ludica Apuana, and WArgames SPezia, with four special scenarios to be played during the weekend, using the Wings of Glory system and self-made airplanes along side those from Ares.

There will be two large WW1 scenarios: an Allied bombing raid on Mannhein at dawn, in May 1918, using the huge Handley-Page 0/400 bomber, escorted by Sopwith Snipe and Sopwith Camel fighters, and opposed by German Fokker D VII and Siemens-Schuckert DIII fighters; and the bombing of the Austro-Hungarian armored ships Wien and Budapest, at anchor in Trieste, in December 1917, using Italian Caproni Ca.3 bombers escorted by Nieport 17 and Macchi M5 fighters, versus Austro-Hungarian Oeffag H3, Loerner, and Albatross D-III fighters.
For WW2, the scenario "Bats out of Hell" will recreate an attack by Jagdverband 44 (JV 44), a special fighter unit of top German fighter aces, against a formation of B17s bombing southern airports in Germany, in March 1945. The Allies bring B17s with an escort of P51D Mustang, and Republic P47D Thunderbolt, while the Axis counter with FW 190Ds and Messerschimitt Me.262s (including rules to play with jets!). The other WW2 scenario will be the "Crossbow Operation," the Anglo-American campaign against German long-range weapons operations, with an attack on production and launch sites of V-1 flying bombs and V-2 rockets. The scenario will use the Allied Bristol Beaufighter heavy-fighter and Avro Lancaster bomber, with Axis Messerschimitt Me.110C, Ju 88C, Do217N, and FW-190 A4 defenders.
In addition to these events, during both days of Play 2016, there will be demo tables of Wings of Glory and Sails of Glory in the "BG Storico - 3D" area (Pavillion F), and demos of Odyssey, Jolly Roger, War of the Ring Second Edition, and Dino Race, at Devir Italia's booth (Pavillion A).
