A new record for Sails of Glory was set on Sunday, May 24th, at Enfilade 2015 (May 22-24, Olympia, WA): the "largest historical battle and most ships in one game", with 71 ships engaged to recreate the "Glorious First of June" battle and 20 players. The record for most players in a Sails of Glory game is still held by the GenCon 2014 event, with 50 players.
The big battle was organized by Dave Kapaun with the support of Bill Hughes and a group of other Sails of Glory players from the Sails of Glory Anchorage community, and had two controllers, 6 Squadron commanders/Assistant controllers and 12 other gamers - 9 of them first time players. Due to the size of the game, basic rules were used (plus sail settings) as well as some scenario specific modifications.
A first After Action Report, written by Fred (fredmiracle) from the vantage point of the rear division of the British fleet, was posted on the Anchorage site, and can be read here. Other reports are expected, so stay tuned at Anchorage - After Action Reports forum.
Ares Games thanks Dave, Bill and all the players who fought in this impressive Sails of Glory battle!
