Once again, we’re coming back to the office and our regularly scheduled activities as satisfied as ever. UK Games Expo is truly becoming a force to be reckoned with - this year it registered a record-breaking attendance of 87.000+ visitors over the three days of the show! And we really did feel the scope of this event. We did not have a single idle moment. We saw old friends and colleagues who came to visit us, returning customers who make us proud of our work and grateful for their continued support, and hopefully new players who discovered our games for the first time and will come to love them.
This year we had a plethora of recent releases to demo, with games such as the satisfying TEDOKU, the chaotic Perfect Mismatch, the eye-catching Viking Route, the compelling WunderWaffen and the mysterious Altay – Seafarers. UKGE was Seafarers and Viking Route’s absolute debut – Viking Route, particularly, was present at the show concurrently with the beginning of the Kickstarter fulfillment, and UK backers had the unique opportunity to pick it up at the show rather than wait to have it delivered.
We also had a few sneak peeks for upcoming games, most notably Quartermaster General: West Front, by Ian Brody, who was at our stand on Friday and Saturday to guide players through all the games in the line; the two new expansions for the War of the Ring, Sieges of Middle-earth for the board game and Hope and Despair for the card game (also by Ian Brody); and lastly, the long-in-the-making City of Chaos, a refreshing new take on a classic from the ‘90s.
Last but not least, on Sunday we hosted the 5th edition of our annual Wings of Glory event, the Battle of Birmingham. The huge battle was immersive and engaging, thanks to our passionate demonstrators and the large amount of participants. As the game is incredibly easy to learn and we had miniatures to share, anyone could join, even with no previous experience. Surely, the many prizes also looked inviting and convinced people to try their hand at it!
As always, none of this could have been managed without our team of returning demonstrators who flawlessly juggled the many players and games we had on show. A huge thank you! And thank you to everyone who came to visit our stand. We hope that all of you were able to find what you were looking for or discovered something new and unexpected.
