A competitive eurogame of area control and hand management set in a stunning and original world shaped by strange forces and powerful crystals starts to hit the stores from August 29th: Mysthea Essential Edition. In the game, 2 to 5 players explore the floating islands of Ilvash as Champions hired by the Kingdom’s guilds to uncover secrets, battle terrifying monsters, and seize control of these unstable lands. Learn more about the Mysthea universe and the Champions of Ilvash.
Millennia ago, a planet called Icaion was struck by a giant crystal of unknown origin, hurtling through space at immense speed. The crystal pierced through the planet, ending its long journey from a mysterious place. The impact was so powerful that the planet, and the forces governing it, were changed forever.
The collision scattered crystal shards across the planet, from its surface to its deepest layers. These shards, called Qoam, possess magnetic fields that interact strangely with gravity. Some shards float, while others remain firmly embedded in the ground.
Two notable effects followed: first, a blanket of mist and storm clouds rose, covering the entire planet, and so it has been for millennia; second, the detachment of large and small fragments of crust from the planet’s surface. Massive regions, as large as continents, broke away and began floating in orbit, governed by a mysterious gravitational force generated by the Henakor, the largest shard still buried in the planet’s core. These floating islands circle Icaion above the cloud layer.
Mysthea is the region formed by the lands above the clouds. Its main landmass is surrounded by countless smaller islands, and beyond them — visible but unreachable — the Henakor rises through the sea of mist, with the Five Islands orbiting it like satellites. For the inhabitants of Mysthea, this is the entire known world.
Living in a land shaped by Qoam crystals means evolving to adapt, and humanity has done so. Thanks to their innate affinity with Qoam, which they can control telepathically, humans managed to thrive in these hostile lands. But the Henakor constantly emits overwhelming pulses of energy, twisting everything nearby and making the Five Islands inaccessible throughout Mysthea’s history. Recently, however, the Kingdom’s guilds developed Artefacts, tools that allow Champions, the most talented Qoam manipulators, to unlock their full potential. With these, the guilds tasked them with a mission once thought impossible: to explore the Five and unearth their secrets.

The Champions of Ilvash: heroes with unique traits and abilities and an extraordinary talent for manipulating Qoam crystals.
Champions of Ilvash
The kingdom buzzed with excitement when the guilds announced they would fund expeditions. Each would choose a Champion, entrust them with an Artefact, and send them to lead an expedition into these new and perilous lands. Each Champion represents their guild’s hopes for great rewards.
“Champion of Ilvash” is a title granted to heroes of diverse origins, with unique traits and abilities. What they share is an extraordinary talent for manipulating Qoam, performing feats impossible for ordinary people. Over time, each Champion has developed their own style, mastering techniques no one else can replicate.
• Telron is a feared and respected figure, considered the greatest Qoam manipulator to ever live. He can move crystals beyond sight or shift them to build enormous structures single-handedly. Before the Artefacts, he was called upon whenever something too large for anyone else had to be moved. Strong-willed and relentless, he joins the expedition seeking even greater strength.
• Anuth, an ex-soldier and commander, led the Ilvash army to victory in the Great War of Dulkodel. Now retired, he runs a private militia escorting merchants and valuables. He wields a Qoam shield gifted by his mentor, which resonates perfectly with him and enables a unique fighting style: swift, crushing charges that feel weightless. Fiercely loyal to Ilvash, he joins the exploration to advance the City’s growth.
• Celethe Ahatils, heir to the throne, was destined to rule until she renounced her name and crown, uninterested in noble life. Gifted in Qoam manipulation, she instead chose to apprentice under Telron. When their paths diverged, she leveraged both her lineage and her master’s fame to become a respected manipulator in her own right. She seeks the expedition to make a name for herself—and perhaps surpass her teacher.
• Leheir once led a rebel group against a rival crown, but her cause collapsed when her followers were captured and executed. Alone, she fled to Ilvash and sought asylum. The king granted it only if she used her knowledge of her homeland to conquer it in his name. Her revolution became a conquest that strengthened Ilvash, and though hailed as a hero, she lives in guilt. She now seeks redemption in the new lands, hoping to find peace.
• Sanya once lived a humble, happy life—until a Cannibarook attacked, destroying the city walls and killing her family. Crushed in the ruins, she lost both legs. A Magista Guild physician crafted Qoam prosthetics that responded to her mind, allowing her to walk again. But her talent quickly exceeded expectations: she mastered her new limbs, moving with supernatural agility. It was only a matter of time before she became a Champion.
• Kolbor and Malabor, known as the Twins, live in complete synchronicity, mirroring each other’s every move. Eerie in daily life, their coordination in battle makes them a terrifying single force. Though marked by ties to Ilvash’s underworld, they earned the Champion title through work for the Varorin Guild. Now, they answer the guilds’ call.
• CR 2T1, an ancient machine from a vanished civilization, was discovered by Magista explorers and kept in Ilvash’s museum until it mysteriously reactivated. Sentient but enigmatic, it has since engaged in both charitable acts and violent wars. Its true purpose remains unknown, but it too chooses to join the exploration of the Five.
