What about adding historical Ace pilots to your Wings of Glory WW1 games?

This will be possible with the Ace Cards Promo Pack with 24 cards which will be available from the BoardGameGeek Store. WW1 Wings of Glory rules now include "Ace skills" and how to use them. A pilot (or other crew member) may now be an Ace, and each Ace may have one or more special abilities. These abilities "break the rules", and give to his plane additional bonus and special capabilities - for example, ignoring certain jamming results, getting an aim bonus, getting away with risky maneuvers.

This Promo Pack extends the concept even further, introducing special Ace Cards that present real WW1 pilots and assigning to each of them a selection of Ace abilities based on actual historical documents.

Seven aces from World War 1 are included: Manfred von Richthofen and Max Immelmann (Germany), Willy Coppens (Belgium), Silvio Scaroni (Italy), Lanoe George Hawker (England), Jean Navarre (France) and Frank Luke, Jr. (United States).

Each Ace has an individual card, with his picture and historical data (date of birth and death and victories scored), the period of his career portrayed, the unit served and his fighting skills at that time. The skills are then presented in individual cards, each of them including the description of the skill and how it modifies the Wings of Glory rules.

For example, in the case of the Red Baron, Manfred Richthofen, the period represented in the card is from March 9th to 24th, 1917, when he was at Jasta 11 and had scored 29 victories, and so his ace cards correspond to five skills – Acrobatic Pilot, Daredevil, Super Ace, Itchy Trigger Finger and Sniper.

The Ace Cards Promo Pack will be available from the BGG Store in early May, at a price of US$ 5.00.
